
Out there in the world of dieting there are so many ways of eating foods or not eating foods that promise you weight loss. People promise you that if you eat nothing but fruit you will lose weight. Other promise if you just become a vegetarian you will lose weight. I think the most popular diet now a days is the atkins diet or a low carb diet. Which in my opinion is close to the best thing you can do to lose weight.
People will say that its not healthy if you cut out essential parts of the food groups from your diet like fruit and bread and dairy. They say you just need to count your calories and stay away from all the fatty foods all the time. Also working out is always an essential part they say to add to everyones diet work out 1 hour a day or more, run 2 miles a day.
Working out an excessive amount and counting calories are really not that important part of losing weight as some people think. I know this is counter productive thinking but it is working method that has continually worked for a lot of people. I am here as one of those people that has lost weight just with a simple diet and gained lean muscle with just little working out.
The slow carb diet is popular diet that is growing among a lot of dieters. It has been made most popular by a book called “The 4 Hour Body” written by Tim Ferris. The book talks about losing weight fast and how to gain muscle fast with little work out and other various other topics to help improve your life. If your serious about doing the slow carb diet I will say that its important that you get The 4 Hour Body. Its not only informative but inspirational to lose weight and everything he says about how easy it can be to lose weight is true.
Does Slow carb mean you eat Zero Carb foods?
For me the Slow carb diet is and extremer version of the low carb diet. Except there are some major changes first of all you should stay away from all grain based products white flour, wheat and corn. Also cut out dairy don’t even drink skim milk any lactose product should just be cut off. This last one will probably upset some people but just don’t eat any fruit. Now those are things you shouldn’t eat on this diet.
Now what you should be eating protein rich foods for every meal. Meat, Chicken, fish, eggs any thing that can bring you the protein that you body can use to turn fat to muscle. Also you should have a lot of vegetables in every meal broccoli and cauliflower are really good for you. Last but not least beans or a legume of some kind. These are the essentials you should be planning for every meal you have breakfast lunch and dinner. Its a huge change and its going to take some meal planning to get going with it but I can promise you when you get on that scale every day and see how much weight you are losing its going to show you how awesome this diet is.
So I know it seems like you are cutting out all the carbs from your diet and yes you do need to have carbs for every meal. But you don’t need to get your carbs from grains. Vegetables have an excellent source of carbohydrates and if you not eating enough of those every meal then you might actually get headaches and probably eventually quit the diet. But that’s were the beans come into play beans have a lot of carbohydrates in them to keep you going through out the day. If you are doing this diet and you are getting head aches or even maybe feeling sick you most likely need to eat more beans and vegetables in your diet.
So the Slow Carb diet doesn’t actually mean you cut out carbohydrates from your diet you are getting them introduced slow into your body through out the day through vegetable and legumes. This slow carb diet will seem at first like limiting you to your meals but what I recommend and this is just to make it more simple is to plan to eat the same meal every day at least for the next two weeks and then after two weeks switch it to something else. The reason for this is that people like me are lazy I don’t want to plan every single meal for every day. While I like variety in my meals I also like simplicity in making it.
How to plan your high protein diet menu.
Here is what I do when I am planning my meals for the next two weeks. First and foremost I get everything from Costco. Costco has just about everything you need for this diet and in bulk which can save you annoying trips to the grocery store all the time. They have a lot of packaged vegetables and meats that you can continually keep in stock at your house for your this weight loss solution. For me I buy there chicken and beef they also have a Normandy vegetable blend that contains Broccoli, Cauliflower and Carrots which is really great its a huge bag and lasts a little over a week. They also have a great package of Black beans and Re fried Beans. So if you have a Costco card go there and get what you need.
So what I do next for my high protein diet is I just cook about 3 to 4 days worth of meals and then just package them and stick them in my fridge. I BBQ all my meats and it really makes every taste. One thing that I would like to add is that I have learned about how amazing BBQ Rubs are on this diet. Weber’s BBQ rub has seriously made this a food lovers diet. My personal favorite for Chicken is there Beer Can Chicken Rub its has spices and flavors that make the chicken even better then going to a fancy restaurant.
Also a great high protein breakfast idea is hard boiled eggs mixed with spinach re fried beans and a sugar free salsa and two slices of bacon. This has totally worked for me since i started this diet. I have changed all my lunch and dinner meals but my breakfast has always stayed the same. I just hard boil a weeks worth of eggs and then stick them in the fridge. The only thing that I really cook every day is bacon and that’s just because I like my bacon fresh. Real bacon is OK on this diet but I prefer Turkey bacon just because I love the taste and I personally don’t like a lot of grease on my food.
These are just some of the things that I have done to keep me on this diet and to help me lose 10lbs of weight in 2 weeks and to continue to lose weight naturally with out even working out. Diet is a huge part of losing weight and it should be your main focus when doing it. Working out is still important but not as important as diet.
One last surprise to the quickest way to lose weight.
So you are going to put all this effort into changing your diet and right now your thinking this is going to be hard just changing everything in my diet I am going to have to say good bye to some of my favorite foods. But wait you don’t have to say good bye to these things. I am not going to say you can but I am going to say you should at least one day out of the week eat as much of anything that you want. Its your cheat day once a week. You can stop one day out of the week and have a donut, have a latte, go eat a whole pizza then top it off with a 2 liter soda. But just make sure you keep it to one day. Why should you do this the simple way of putting it once a week when you spike you calorie intake it actually triggers your body to lose fat.
Our bodies will eventually get used to what we are doing so every now and then we mix it up and it keeps the process of our bodies going towards an easy way to lose weight fast. The thing is not only does it keep your body from getting used to eating the same foods every day it helps keep you on your diet. Mentally knowing that your cravings for certain foods are going to come to you during your week of dieting you can just put them on a list of things to eat on you cheat day.
So I know this is a big change but I promise you that it is easy to do and you will be surprised as to how you pallet for certain foods will change. I used to never eat vegetables it was so bad I would never have them but now I eat every meal and actually enjoy. Its a very important part of your high protein diet eat all the meat you want and eat as much as you want you don’t need to starve yourself and you don’t need to count calories. Just stick to the foods to eat and the foods not to eat and your going to lose weight and you are going to be happy.
In conclusion does Slow carb mean you eat Zero Carb foods? No you don’t you are eating carbs but you are getting them introduced into your body through vegetables and legumes. If this concept is something that your scared to dive into then just take it slow. Like I have said in previous blogs take baby steps if you don’t think you can do every meal yet then just start with breakfast and see were you at after a week. But your goal should hopefully always be to eat slow carb with every meal. Then look forward to that cheat day when you can bathe in chocolate and butter.
Last thing if your serious about this diet get The 4 hour body Tim Ferris does the best job in explaining why you are doing this diet what beans and vegetables do for you. Why fruit actually contains high amounts of fructose that’s actually bad for your weight loss. He started this movement just from testing all of these methods on himself. Its an easy and excellent read.
